Gloomy equinox
Does so little to banish
Winter’s cold hard knocks.

I’ve been very quiet recently, but as it is World Poetry Day, I thought it appropriate to post a little haiku written last year. Enjoy! 🙂

Curious crocus
Emerges from the darkness
Coaxed by golden sun;
Bravely facing winter’s end:
Promise of springtime respite.

The humble daisy
Sprinkled like magical dust,
Enchanting hilltops.

Inquisitive crocus spears
Stabs of colour through drizzle drapes
Whether snow-capped
Violet-veiled
Or butter-tipped.
Springtime showers of
Candy-coloured confetti
Cheer my morning stroll.

Tall Minster towers
Grazing the bluest of skies;
Bubblegum blossom
And crowds of bright daffodils
Adorn the old city walls.
So frozen inside,
His warmth thawed my wintry heart,
Set flowers abloom.

Flushed by sun’s sweet morning kiss,
Wrapped in dewy mist’s embrace,
A golden gossamer veil is this,
That shimmers with distinguished grace.
Tilde silhouette,
Dynamic, sleek and fluffy,
Gracefully bounding.

Fuzzy flowers unfurled
Lean towards the benevolent sun,
Drinking in liquid sunbeams
Above the polka dot pavement.
