This will likely be my last post before I disappear on holiday for a week – in case anyone wonders about my absence! I can’t wait to swap the brisk British weather for some scintillating Spanish sunshine 🙂 See you all in October!
Since it’s Throwback Thursday, I thought I’d repost one of my older poems today – in fact, the first poem I ever published, back in February this year. It’s one of my favourite poems that I’ve composed, based on the flood of conflicting emotions and difficult memories I get when listening to Ludovico Einaudi’s “Due Tramonti”. If you’ve never listened to it, please do – it is an utterly beautiful, heart-wrenching melody.
Forlorn strings
And tinkling ivories, twinkling ivories;
Mesmerising, comforting,

Carve chasms in my skin
A valley of heartbroken tears
Everlasting scars
These blackened eyes
Bruised
By thoughtless punches
Brain battered
By head blows
Mind games
Excruciating memories
My aching heart punctured
By exit wounds.
