Scarlet-speckled meadows

Lush canvas boasting

Pillar box-red poppy pointillism

Fields flecked and freckled

Wafer-thin wings

Delicately spun from finest silk

Flutter by and catch the eye

In contrasting black and orange

Efflorescent trumpets

Reflect the springtime sun

In ravishing yellow

A fantastic floral fanfare

Ghostly green

Streaks across sable skies

Dancing and weaving

In a mesmerising nocturnal show

Sparks of electric blue

Flit on summer breezes

Swirling by the riverside

Held aloft by gossamer wings

Mighty mountains

Dominating the distant skyline

Draped in regal indigo

And snowcapped top hat

Beaming pansy faces

Mottled cream gold and violet

Around an ink blot centre

Queen of flowerbeds

Nature’s rainbow

Paints the world with colour

Bursting with vibrancy

And brings beauty to life
