Lovesick

lovesick1

The nauseating butterflies

Stampeding in my stomach,

Pounding, aching head

Crammed with thoughts of you,

Heart thumping, pulse racing

At the memory of your touch,

Shot nerves, trembling limbs

At the mere sight of your face.

Burning bloodshot eyes

From crying waterfalls,

Breathless tightened chest

Gripped by wracking sobs,

Full body paralysis, lethargy,

As you leeched the life from me.

Once critically lovesick,

Now sick of this incurable love.

Happy Throwback Thursday! It has been a busy week and I’m sure the coming weeks will be busier still! My time for writing and posting is alas short, but hopefully I’ll find some moments to be creative 🙂
Today’s throwback poem is from March, about the physical effects of the chronic malady that is lovesickness…

I love this! You have quite skillfully depicted how sweet can turn sour, in the context of relationships. Commendable use of some great metaphors, and the diction is a delight. Great job!
